1. What Telehealth Is
Telehealth means receiving medical or behavioral-health care from your Mintlife Health clinician through secure, real-time video or audio technology instead of an in-person office visit. It may include consultation, evaluation, follow-up, medication management, coaching, and therapy, and may involve the electronic transmission of your medical information.
2. Benefits and Risks
Benefits
- Access to care from home or while traveling, with reduced time and travel burden.
- Continuity of care between in-person visits and easier scheduling.
Risks and limitations
- A physical examination is not possible; in some situations your clinician may determine telehealth is not appropriate and ask you to be seen in person or referred elsewhere.
- Technology can fail: connections may drop, and video/audio quality may limit assessment.
- Despite strong safeguards, electronic communications carry a residual risk of interception or unauthorized access that in-person conversation does not.
- Delays in evaluation or treatment could occur due to technical problems.
3. Alternatives
Telehealth is always your choice. In-person visits at our Falls Church office remain available, and declining telehealth will not affect your access to care with us.
4. Privacy & Security
We conduct telehealth visits using video platforms configured for clinical use, and we protect telehealth information as described in our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. We do not record sessions, and we ask that you do not record them either. For your own privacy, join visits from a private location and be aware of who can overhear you.
5. Emergencies and Safety Planning
6. Licensure and Location
Telehealth services can be provided only when you are physically located in a jurisdiction where your Mintlife clinician is authorized to practice. You agree to tell us your location at the time of each visit and to inform us if it changes. Prescribing via telehealth — including any controlled substances — is subject to federal and state law and clinical judgment, and may require in-person evaluation.
7. Fees
Telehealth visits are billed at the same private-pay rates as comparable in-person services, as listed on our Fees page and in your patient agreement. As with all our services, we do not bill insurance; superbills are available on request.
8. Technical Failure
If a visit is interrupted by technical failure, we will attempt to reconnect; if reconnection is not possible we will call you at the number on file to complete the visit by phone or reschedule at no additional charge.
9. Your Rights
- You may withhold or withdraw consent to telehealth at any time without affecting your right to future care.
- All existing confidentiality protections and patient rights described in our HIPAA Notice apply equally to telehealth.
- You may ask questions about telehealth technology, risks, or alternatives at any time before or during care.
10. Acknowledgment
By accepting the consent banner on this website and by scheduling or attending a telehealth visit with Mintlife Health, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Telehealth Informed Consent, that its risks, benefits, and alternatives have been made available to you, and that you voluntarily consent to receive services via telehealth. You will also be asked to review and sign this consent as part of your patient intake, where you may ask your clinician any questions before signing.
